The home on the left facing us was the home in which Nancy McCurdy
Swope died. My father told me that the family hid in the basement of this
home during the battle. Across the street and to its right is the site
of the Gettysburg Hotel, which was the Buck Tavern, opened by John Troxell
in 1804.
